Thirsty Thursday!

I am so glad it is Thursday. Mostly because my Wednesday was horrendous and not so fun. Seems to be the story of my life these days. As a result to said crummy day, I splurged and had 2 Oreo's and a plethora of ice cream complete with chocolate sauce. It didn't hurt me scale wise, but it did make me upset with myself for succumbing to emotional eating.

Today was much much better. I came home, walked the dog all over the place and we then relaxed for a bit. After that, we decided I should probably work on my fitness. And I did. It was heavenly! I burned 329 calories and just feel like a million bucks.

As I write this now, my dinner is sizzling away. I am having grilled chicken breast, sauteed squash and onions, cabbage, and a bit of rice. I can't wait! It'll be yummy! Tomorrow is Finally Friday!!! Hello weekend and 2 more workouts before a mini rest.

I can't wait to see you Friday! Hurry up and get here!

Sometimes I feel...

Sometimes I feel like:

  • A blimp
  • Like I waddle
  • Like no matter how hard I work I don't see or feel a difference
What I am here to tell you is that in spite of feeling that way, I know it isn't true! Well, how do I know this? It seems like my scale is moving! I am so proud of me. Of course switching up the food and choosing smaller plates and 50% veggies might have helped. Just a smidgen.

I weigh myself daily, but I only count the Monday weigh ins. Yesterday the scale had not budged in about 2 weeks. (My guilty secret - I also weigh myself before a workout just because.) This evening I saw some change and am hopeful that this is truly indicative of what I might see Monday morning.

The best part about all of this is that I found while I crave some sweets or some carbs, they just aren't worth it right now. I have to focus on my goal of hitting and (more importantly) maintaining 130 pounds. Then, I can allow myself a small treat of frozen yogurt or a small (bite) sweet...maybe 2 times a week max.

At any rate, this week is Core Cardio & Balance. It is amazing. It's just 35 minutes but you definitely work in those 35 minutes. I burned 319 calories yesterday and 336 today. I am on target for an 1800+ calorie burning week!

Hope your Tuesday is fabulous!

Sonoma Eating Style 101

Hello Sonoma! It's Jen, your newest fan and newest follower. I am starting you tomorrow! Are you excited? I know I am! I just stocked up on 'Sonoma' like things. Essentially, everything I already eat. Veggies, grapefruit (new to me), and some lean meat. I am pretty excited to try you out!

SO chicken is cooking to prep for my lunch for the week - it's a chicken and veggie wrap. The chicken is being baked in olive oil - yum! And I'll toss it with some spinach, cucumbers, carrots, and perhaps some feta cheese. I've also managed to take some flank steak, put it with olive oil as well and season it with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. I can't wait to try it with some roasted veggies.

Anyhow, I'll check in tomorrow after my workout and dinner. Wish me luck with tomorrow's workout...it is core cardio and balance.

Birthday Thursday!

Happy birthday to: Me! Houdini! Peyton Manning! And, Alyson Hannigan!

Today is my big fat 28th birthday. I'm not old yet...I have 2 more years. BUT! I am pretty happy with today! Well, more like yesterday. Let me recap:

I came home and got my workout on. It was the plyometric cardio circuit. It was intense, but great. I burned 408 calories in 41 minutes. No complaints here! That's an average of nearly 10 calories a minute! I followed my workout with a solid dinner --> George Foreman gilled chicken, 1 tomato (sliced, eaten raw, yum!), sauteed zuchinni, and steamed rice. And of course, a glass of chocolate milk. I have found I prefer that to a protein smoothie after a workout. I drink a protein smoothie in the morning to increase my breakfast calorie count and hold me over til close to lunch time before getting hungry.

Today is cardio recovery day so it shouldn't be too intense. Since I skipped cardio abs earlier in the week, I'm planning to tack it on to the end of the cardio recovery. All in all it should be a fabulous workout. Since I don't really know anyone in the area yet, dinner will be in...it will be leftover chicken, steamed cabbage (yum!), rice, and either (homemade) honey glazed carrots or a sliced tomato. Decisions, decisions.

Hope your day is fabulous! Happy Birthday Thursday to Me!

Power Cardio & Cardio Abs...What?

My workout was B A N A N A S!!! It was I N C R E D I B L E!!!

Ok, now that I'm done gushing, allow me to elaborate. The first 40 minutes of my workout was the power cardio...I've done this workout before and I enjoyed it the first time. This time around, I loved it. Today was a bit of a rough day due to the long hours at work. I am okay with that. I did it. and that's half the battle.

The second part of the workout was called cardio abs. It was intense...this was a huge workout for my abs and truly kicked my butt. I loved it! I need to strengthen my core tremendously. I think that is the reason I feel so out of sorts. Maybe I'll add the 15 minute core workout 3 days a week to see if I can develop those muscles a bit more.

Anyhow, tomorrow is cardio recovery and I know I have a long day at work again. I am not sure what time I'll be home...it might just workout that I skip tomorrow's workout if it is too late. However, if it is before 9, workout is a go! Here's to Thursday (and the hope I'll be able to workout)!!

Fit Test 2 Results

Today marks the start of the second week for Insanity. In missing 4 workouts in just 12 days, I'm exceptionally pleased with my results thus far.

Switch Kicks: 40/46
Power Jacks: 31/39
Power Knees: 52/64
Power Jumps: 20/25
Globe Jumps: 6/8
Suicide Jumps: 10/12
Push-Up Jacks: 10/15
Low Plank Oblique: 15/16

I've also lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks. It's not terribly quickly, but it's a start. My BMI has dropped 0.3 in two weeks. I'm going to keep revamping my eating habits and keep closer track of what I eat and keep pushing to see the results shine through for both my weight and BMI. My fit test results are great though. Next fit test is April 4th.

Weekend Update

Hello! I'm back. Yes, I've been MIA for a few days. Let's take it back a few days...

March 10: I didn't work out. I was exhausted and came home from work and just vegged out. It was worth it. I truly needed it. So, my calorie count was zero.

March 11: I, again, didn't work out. I had planned not to work out this day. I intended to do it Saturday. I went up to see my brother and nephew Friday for dinner. It took an hour to get up to meet them and then an hour home. Needless to say, it was a big of a long drive and my motivation was lacking when I got home. I knew it would be that way.

March 12: I had planned to get up early this morning and knock out both Friday and Saturday's workouts. As it turned out, I was - again - too tired. So, I slept in for a while...until about 9. By that time, I had to get up and get ready for the day as I was meeting friends. No work out, no make up work out.

Today was a rest day so I wasn't terribly worried about. With the weather changing like it is around here - cold, warm, back and forth - my head pounds with pressure headaches. Today was no different. I am hoping that the weather can just pick a temperature and stay there...or at least pick a season!

Tomorrow is the just the fit test...or that's all that I am supposed to do. I am going to (as of now) plan to do that but also tack on the work out from Friday - Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs. At least I'll feel better about missing the weekend work outs.

On another note, I am toying with knocking carbs out of my diet for lent to see how things go. I know I'll see a huge weight loss, but I am more interested in seeing how my body feels and if I can actually work around the carbs. I have been doing some reading and learned that there is the potential that carbs are more addictive than cocaine. Because of this addiction, our metabolism is having havoc wreaked on it. I'm wondering if a change in my diet might also help me sleep a bit better or at least give me more energy throughout the day. Let me also just tell you that I am - self admittedly - a carb junkie. I love: bread, pasta, rice, bagels. I am pretty good about not overindulging too often. But I am anxious to see if cutting them out will help. I think I will toy with the idea for another week or so and see how I feel then.

Hope you had a great weekend!
