You burned how many calories in 40 minutes?

Who doesn't like burning 459 calories in 41 minutes? I looooove it.

Today's workout was a plyometric cardio circuit. It was intense and I did start to feel it about half way through. But, I powered through, took breaks when I needed to and made it! I couldn't be happier for me! In comparison to the last time I did this work, I am right on target with my calories burn.

Today was a frustrating day at work so the workout was truly welcomed. I felt like the frustration from the day melted away with each jump, jog, and squat. Now I feel better and ready to relax, hang with the pup and be a bit lazy.

I ate pretty well --> smart start with a banana for breakfast, leftover spaghetti (1/2 cup noodles, 1/2 cup meat sauce), red orange, blueberry yogurt, for lunch, and steamed cabbage, rice and chicken with broccoli for dinner. No complaints there! Don't forget to add in my post workout protein shake to round it all out.

Tomorrow is cardio recovery so I imagine my calorie count will be low. As of today, I am at 1,296 for the week. I imagine I'll wind up with close to some 2500 calories burned for the entire week. Here's to a happy Wednesday and wrapping up the week with strong calorie burning workouts!

This $#!* is BANANAS!

The title is a direct quote from my workout. This $#!* is BANANAS!

Yes, the workout was crazy. It was intense. It was pure cardio. Let me just be honest with you here: it seriously kicked my butt. Hard core. I burned 416 calories in about 39 minutes so there are not complaints there. I am looking forward to doing it again and seeing how much of the workouts I can get through without needing a breather.

The workout is about 10 minutes of cardio --> jumping jacks, butt kicks, high knees and a few other exercises. You do that circuit 3 times. After that, you stretch for about 5 minutes. It's a great stretch routine. After that, you go in to about 15 minutes of (wait for it....) pure cardio. It's 1 minute of 15 different cardio bursts. It is intense. I couldn't make it through all the exercises without having to take a 10 second break...towards the end it was more of a 20 second break. When the pure cardio was over, it goes in to a 4 minute cool down stretch. Let me just tell you that it felt like heaven to stretch out the old legs after the workout.

I followed up the workout with a protein shake from GNC Amp formula -chocolate flavored - milk, and strawberries. It was heavenly! I had dinner too --> eggs with green peppers and onion, rice, and (yes I know this part is not so great) corned beef hash. It was a great dinner and packed with protein. I am feeling pretty good about today's workout and eating choices. Tomorrow is the plyometric cardio circuit. I hope my bum is preparing for Thursday...to feel a bit sore. I can't wait for tomorrow!

I'm back!

I'm back, Jack!

Have you ever skipped a few work outs and then caught yourself back up? How do you feel after that? Man oh man, let me just tell you that today's workout was amazing! My legs were tired, but that's to be expected when you're alternating between squatting and jumping.

Tonight was a simple cardio power and resistance workout. It was the same as Tuesday's workout last week. It lasted 39 minutes and I burned 421 calories. That's the same calorie burn as last Tuesday. No complaints here from me!

I splurged a little on dinner and had spaghetti. BUT! I didn't eat a lot since I had a protein shake. I did balance it out with a salad. All in all, it was a great eating day.

Check back tomorrow to see how the workout goes. It's pure cardio which is one of the workouts I missed last week. I have no idea what to expect, but I am excited to see what it brings!

Truth

Truth...ok, more like confessions. Here is a recap of the weekend. And, well, don't be too disappointed in me.

Friday: I didn't workout. I got home from work and took the dog out super quick. After doing so, I headed off to meet my boss and three other men from my department (we're a small department). One of the men had just retired and we were invited to celebrate his retirement at dinner. The wives and the boy joined us. It was at a Japanese hibachi grill. When I finally got home it was almost 10 and din't leave time to workout. Let me add to this that I also had car problems...My emergency brake light came on and stayed on the rest of the day. The brake wasn't engaged. Then after dinner my oil pressure light flashed on followed by the check engine light. Sheesh!

Saturday: I got up to deal with the car issues. It was super early. 6:45 was when the first alarm went off. I got the oil changed and while waiting for it to be done ran a few errands. I came home, helped load the futon in the boy's truck and ran to get my car. I dashed down to Virginia Beach for lunch with my grandmother, aunt, sister and mom. It was great. I had 1/2 a turkey avocado club - sans bread because they used this awful flavored sauce - and a small wedge salad. Pretty good choice. By the time I was done with that, I wound up heading back to the boy's place to take care of some car stuff. When we finished getting parts and stuff, it was nearly 5. We ran out to rest drive my next big purchase...a 4Runner. I am more thrilled with it than I was 6 months ago. Needless to say, I will be saving my pennies and hoping for the house to rent so I can buy it. We had dinner...and of course by the time we got back to his place, it was nearly 10 again. No workout.

Today: We went to church and lunch with some friends. After that I was kind of worn out still, so I took a siesta on the couch. By the time I woke up (3:30), I had to get my stuff packed so I could head out to go home. Well, the headache that has plagued me all day has only gotten worse. I unloaded the car, the dog, and headed out to the grocery store for a quick run through. Now, here I am getting ready to make dinner. Again, no workout. So, yes, I have been a slacker.

Tomorrow's Plan: I will workout. No ifs, ands, or buts. If I have the opportunity, I will do 2 to make up for my slackness on Friday and Saturday. It is what it is...at least I ate well!

Yoga stretches please!

What do you do on a crap shoot day? Workout! Duh! In a very broad statement, I had a terrible, horrible no good very bad day. And someone made me feel lower than low and it put me in a horribly foul mood which is - fortunately - not in existence...presently.

Here's a quick breakdown of the eats for the day:

B: Apple cinnamon cheerios
L: 1/2 stuffed pepper, 1/2 cup chicken and dumplings, 1/2 cup green beans, 1/4 cup hash browns and 1 banana
D: Homemade taco salad (1 cup lettuce, 1/2 cup meat, shredded cheese, salsa, 1 tbsp sour cream), refried beans (vegetarian), yellow saffron rice, fruit salad

Today was a cardio recovery day. It was a lot like yoga and core work. I actually enjoyed it a lot! I needed to get my stretch on. The old hamstrings have been super tight lately and of course sitting in a classroom setting all day for the past 3 days hasn't exactly helped. Today's workout did!

It was a 32 minute workout that burned 219 calories. So far this week, I've burned 1,319 calories! Holy smokes! Tomorrow is a Pure Cardio workout so I'll be anxious to see what it brings! Happy Thursday and get ready for Friday!

Happy Hump Day!

Aloha day 3! You were great to me!

I couldn't stop my mind from racing to tonight's workout. It was also thinking about how sore my hamstrings are. And boy oh boy are they sore! BUT! There are no complaints from me on that. I'm just pleasantly happy with it. I'm hopeful that my legs and such will work out the soreness soon so my jumps can get higher.

Tonight was a cardio circuit and was about 39 minutes. I burned 421 calories! Holy calorie burn! Man oh man I'm on my way to dropping several pounds in the first week!

Breakfast: Apple cinnamon cheerios
Lunch: 2 slices pizza (it was a work meeting and there was no other choice!)
Dinner: Chicken, rice, milk....fruit bowl!

Thanks for being a great day! I can't wait to see what Thursday holds for my insane workout!

So long day 2!

Hello day 2! I see you have come and nearly gone. And you were grrrrrrrrrrrreat!

Today started out pretty well...then, well, I went out to dinner and ate not as well, but I used control. That's half the battle.

Breakfast --> Smart start cereal with a banana.
Lunch --> Subway mini sandwiches (1 turkey and 1 roast beef and salami), a few chips, a coke.
Dinner --> Salad with peppercorn ranch (1 tbsp dressing), fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli and chicken.

All in all, the calorie count was around 1650. Over what I'd prefer to eat, but I also note that it was an exception due to a work meeting and I just wanted the Alfredo. I'll take my poor choice and keep moving.

I got home and did my work out despite the fact that I just wanted to hit the hay. I did a 41 minute work out and burned....wait for it, wait for it.....

463 calories!

Hooray! What a great workout! I can't even wait for tomorrow's workout to see where it takes me! I am so super excited for the workout each day that it consumes my mind the entire day. I just can't wait to get home each day and see what Shaun T has waiting for me!!! Here's to Wednesday!
